  • How is a credit union different than a bank?
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives and are among the most stable institutions in America. They exist to serve the needs of their members (who are also owners) and offer the same types of banking products and services you would find at other financial institutions, including savings and checking accounts, loans, mortgages, Internet home banking and bill payment, and more. Credit unions are member-owned and controlled through a board of directors elected by the membership. The board serves on a volunteer basis and may hire a management team to run the credit union. The board also establishes and revises policy, sets dividend and loan rates, and directs certain operations. The result: members are provided with a safe, convenient place to save and borrow at reasonable rates at an institution which exists to benefit them, not to make a profit.
  • How do I sign up for online banking?
The first time you login to online banking, you will use your account number as your username, and the last four digits of your Social Security Number as your temporary password. You will be prompted to change both to finish logging in. Your temporary password will expire, so if it doesn't work, please call us at 989-752-5214 and we will reset it for you. You now have access to all of our online banking features, such as online bill pay, account history, eStatements and more!
  • Does the credit union put a hold on checks?
LHCU will occasionally put a hold on checks. There are many variables involved with this decision. If you have any questions about a check, please bring it in to either branch office and speak with a Member Service Representative.
